Chelsea Academy - Autism Inclusion Base (Kensington and Chelsea)

Chelsea Academy’s Flourish Centre supports the learning and progress of a small number of students with EHCPs for Autism. Students access a blended purposeful curriculum, spending some of their time in carefully supported mainstream lessons (e.g., practical subjects) and certain lessons in our Flourish Centre.

The curriculum within the Flourish Centre is highly individualised and flexible, meaning each student's timetable and learning focus is uniquely tailored based on their EHCP outcomes, specific sensory needs and communication profile provision allows for:

• Specialist expertise, provision and support, including trained staff in Autism-specific strategies
• Sensory friendly spaces to allow for self or co-regulation and support. 11 Special Education Needs and Disabilities Policy Reviewed: December 2025
• A tailored curriculum - scaffolded lessons and materials
• Planned ‘over teaching’ sessions in Literacy and Numeracy
• Emotional literacy groups - structured programmes and peer support to foster a positive self-image and understanding of their own neurodiversity.
• Transition support - additional support with daily and yearly transitions
• A bespoke space for breaks and lunchtimes
• Clear, consistent, and structured communication, daily communication logs sent to parents.
