Healthy Early Years London is an awards scheme sponsored by the Mayor of London. The scheme supports and recognises achievements in child health, wellbeing and education in early years settings. It can help to address areas such as oral health, personal, social and emotional development, including self-regulation as well as other aspects highlighted in the new Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Framework.

Why Healthy Early Years London?

Getting a good start in life, building emotional resilience and getting maximum benefit from education are the most important markers for good health and wellbeing throughout life. Early Years settings can lay the foundations for lifelong health and wellbeing as they help children prepare for school.

There are 4 levels of awards: First Steps, Bronze, Silver and Gold.

What does Healthy Early Years London offer?

As a setting in Kensington and Chelsea, and Westminster you are eligible to receive the following free support:

  • 1-2-1 support with applications at Bronze, Silver and Gold level
  • Advice on healthy eating, menu analysis and recommendations
  • Access to essential policy templates, information resources such as posters, leaflets, activity ideas and guidance for practitioners and parents/carers
  • training and much more…

What if my setting is part of a chain?

If a setting is part of a chain, we will work with individual settings collaboratively to ensure that the evidence required to submit for an award takes into account common working practices within that chain. This means that there will be a reduced level of evidence required for individual settings.

If you register your interest in the programme, we will award you with the First Steps award.
