Freston Junction at Ormiston Latimer Academy

Freston Junction at Ormiston Latimer Academy, 194 Freston Road, London W10 6TT, is a specialist resource provision for young people aged 11-16 (Key Stages 3 and 4) with an EHCP and special educational needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN), Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and Emotionally Based School Avoidance (EBSA). Although it’s located on the Ormiston Latimer Academy site but operates as a distinct provision with its own specialist environment, curriculum and approach to support. The provision supports up to 12 pupils within a nurturing, highly personalised environment designed to help young people re-engage with learning, develop confidence and achieve positive outcomes.

Freston Junction offers a bespoke curriculum that combines academic learning with social skills development, therapeutic support, life skills and preparation for adulthood. The provision is staffed by specialist teachers, Higher Level Teaching Assistants and experienced SEND professionals who work closely with families, clinicians and external agencies to ensure support is tailored to each young person's individual strengths, needs and aspirations. Individual Education Plans (IEPs), personalised assessments and structured induction programmes help pupils settle successfully and make progress.

The provision is based within a newly refurbished area of the academy and includes dedicated learning spaces, quiet areas, outdoor learning opportunities and facilities designed to create a calm, welcoming and low-arousal environment. Pupils benefit from integrated therapeutic support and a curriculum that includes GCSE subjects, vocational learning, life skills and project-based learning experiences, helping them build independence, resilience and readiness for their next steps.

Students also access a rich enrichment programme that promotes personal development, confidence and social growth. Through sports, life skills activities, team-building opportunities and wider social experiences, young people develop resilience, strengthen relationships and build the skills needed for successful participation in education, employment and community life.
