Portobello Day Care Nursery

Our day nursery is specifically designed to suit the needs of young children, with large, bright play rooms and outdoor play areas, all complete with modern equipment and a variety of age appropriate toys. Our child-centred approach promotes the development of creativity, individuality and self-confidence, whilst delivering the highest standards of care.

Portobello Day Care Nursery is a small nursery that cares for ten children aged 2 – 5 years at one time. Our ethos is based on our belief that all children deserve the best start in life. Our aim is to provide a safe, caring, stimulating environment that embraces the child’s individual needs.

We celebrate diversity and welcome cultures from around the world. We offer a learning environment that will equip your child with the skills needed to continue through the education system. We are registered and inspected by Ofsted (Office for Standards in Education). We work to the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and use play based activities that encourage each child to reach their full potential at a pace that reflects their learning style.

We will prepare your child for the next step in their education, through activities and free flow play that will encourage their natural inquisitiveness.

We highly value the relationship we have with parents and look to them as primary carers and educators of their children. We work in partnership with parents, and will liaise with them on all aspects of their child’s education and development.

Portobello  is fully equipped to pursue key early years learning goals, with a focus on individual development, numeracy, literacy and creative play. We strive to create a safe, engaging and nurturing environment enabling all children to feel safe and secure away from home, to enjoy free play, circle/ story time, music and singing sessions and structured play, enhancing social skills and fuelling their inquisitive minds.

This setting is registered to accept the Early Education and Childcare funded hours for:

• 15 hours 2 year olds (low-income)

• 15 hours 2 year olds (working families)

• 15 hours 3 & 4 year olds (all children)

• 30 hours 3 & 4 year olds (working families)
