• What is a costumed tour?
  • As guests of the Sambournes, enjoy the hospitality of Marion and her staff.

  • Based on Marion Sambourne's diaries, the costumed tours provide a dramatic account of the lives of the inhabitants of 18 Stafford Terrace.

  • What is a conventional tour?
  • Led by expert guides, the informative tours give a memorable insight into the Sambournes' lives and home.

  • From interior decoration, eccentric possessions, to their day to day activities.

  • Are there cafe facilities?
  • Unfortunately we currently do not have a cafe at either property.

  • There are a range of cafes and restaurants nearby.

  • Is there an area to eat packed lunches?
  • We only have limited space at both properties so there is no space for packed lunches.

  • Nearby Holland Park has a number of picnic benches.

  • Why is it only possible to have a guided tour of 18 Stafford Terrace?
  • 18 Stafford Terrace is a small house with a very detailed history.

  • To get the most out of your visit having someone explain the history and the family is really the best way.

  • Why is there no disabled access to the 18 Stafford Terrace?
  • As 18 Stafford Terrace is a historic house, it was not designed with disabled access in mind.

  • It is not possible to alter the house, but we can provide some folding stools for visitors during the tours.

  • Why do self-guided groups have to book in advance?
  • We ask self-guided groups to book in advance so we can ensure large groups don’t all come to the house at the same time.

  • If you pay in advance it will mean you can move through the reception area more quickly.
