As part of the exhibition, Leighton's Winter Studio houses an audio-visual presentation exploring connections between Alma-Tadema’s pictures and cinematic representations of ancient Greece and Rome. Particularly evident in the first decades of cinema in both Europe and Hollywood his influence has continued and is acknowledged by the makers of more recent films including Ridley Scott’s Gladiator (2000).
