  • Sleep and behaviour support – practical advice to help with your baby or child’s sleep routines and behaviour.

  • Health Visitor development checks – regular check‑ins with your Health Visitor to see how your child is growing and developing.

  • Best Start Family Hub baby groups – friendly local groups where you can meet other parents and enjoy activities with your baby.

  • Weighing clinics – drop‑in sessions to check your baby’s weight and ask feeding or growth questions.

  • Help with learning at home – guidance on simple activities that support your child’s learning and development.

  • Parent–infant relationship support – support to help you build a strong, healthy bond with your baby.

  • Breastfeeding and feeding support – help and advice on breastfeeding, bottle feeding, and introducing solids.

YES: Access to targeted services listed below:

  • Extra Health Visitor visits – additional appointments if your family needs more support.

  • Speech and Language Therapy (SALT) advice / drop‑in – guidance and drop‑in sessions to support your child’s communication and language development.

  • Portage support – specialist home‑based support for children with additional developmental needs.

  • Audiology or Paediatrics referrals – support with referrals if there are concerns about your child’s hearing, health, or development.

  • Early Help / targeted Best Start Family Hub support – extra practical and emotional support for families who may need a little more help at certain times.


If difficulties are ongoing, your child could access specialist services such as:

  • Multi‑disciplinary paediatric assessment – assessments involving different specialists working together to better understand and support your child’s needs.

  • Specialist Speech and Language Therapy (SALT) programmes – targeted support over a set period to help with speech, communication, or feeding needs.

  • Specialist Occupational Therapy (OT) or Physiotherapy packages – tailored support to help with movement, coordination, or daily living skills.

  • Portage intensive weekly home support – regular home visits providing focused support for children with more complex developmental needs.

  • Early Complex Needs Panel discussion – a multi‑agency meeting to help plan the right support for children with more complex or ongoing needs.
