Every year, the local authority publishes feedback from users of our SEND Local Offer website. We also set out how we have addressed, or plan to address, the issues raised. All feedback we receive is used to make the website more helpful and easy to use. 

The following comments reflect the feedback given by young people with SEND and their families during the year 2022-2023.

The SEND Local Offer doesn’t feel like a website for young people like me.

We have spoken to groups of young people (in school and on the supported internship) to hear their ideas about how the sites could feel more accessible and appealing to other young people. The website has been redesigned to give the pages a more contemporary appearance (learning from other young people websites such as Our City) and we’ve audited the pages most relevant to young people to ensure these are not text-heavy, jargon is removed and increased video content. We’ve also updated the Young People’s Voice pages to ensure all links are functioning so that these pages provide all the right information needed to provide a good experience to young people visiting the sites.

It is not easy to find what activities are taking place locally

The Local offer promote various different types of sports and activities for children and young people with SEND. We ensure to regularly upload events and activities on the News And Events page, while also ensuring keywords are added to each activity so it becomes easier to find them using the search bar. In the past 3 months, we have added new services on our Local Offer such as London Sports Trust and Swimming lessons by Better to expand the range of activities the Local Offer promotes.

The Local Offer App has too much information, and isn’t so mobile friendly

It was highlighted that some pages on the Local Offer were not very accessible through the mobile phone due to the length of information on the advice and guidance pages. The Local Offer recently went through a new website redesign, where information on and guidance pages were categorised into drop down tabs. This reduced the amount of text on the many landing pages on the Local offer, but also made it easier to navigate through the Local Offer App.
