Description: | Tomb of Major General Sir William Casement (died 1844.) By E M Lander. Tall Portland stone base supporting coffin chest draped with Casement's cloak and topped with his bicorn hat and sword. Canopy with lotus leaf decoration borne by four atlantes in the form of Indian bearers, each wearing a turban and with his arms crossed. Case iron railings in the form of cannon barrels. History: Casement was a senior figure in the government of Bengal, who died on the eve of his final return to Britain. He has a comparable monument in Calcutta with an identical inscription.
