| Description: | Central and male wing of former Kensington workhouse, now hospital. 1848. Designed by Thomas Allom. Red brick, with white brick dressings and quoins and blue and white brick diaper patterns, stone finals and dressings to loggia. Neo-Jacobean style. Slate pitched roof to eaves. Projecting centre of 7 main bays, the second and the sixth bays projecting further to full height beneath decorative gables with stone finials. Wing to left of centre of 6 main bays, the outer projecting to full height beneath decorative gable with stone finial. 1 storey, 3 bay wing to left of this. Centre block of 4 storeys; wing of 3 storeys. Arcading to ground floor between wings, set in front of facade to centre, with balustraded parapet over , but flush with facade above, to wing. Entrance to centre of centre block, within the arcade. Square headed, gauged brick headed windows of 3-lights to gabled projections and of 2-lights between. Many windows to centre block retain original iron lattice glazing bars and small panes. Other windows have plate glass casements. Projecting canted bay windows rising through ground and first. floors to gabled projections in central block Centre bay to centre block also projects forward very slightly ,inset clock within decorative gable at roof level.
