Description: | Tomb of Sir Richard Mayne (1786-1868), founding commissioner of the Metropolitan Police (an office he held for over forty years). Erected by the Metropolitan Police. Pink Peterhead granite obelisk set on inscribed podium above a two-stage base of grey granite. A prominent and large-scale monument: the tallest obelisk but one in the cemetery. |
