Join our family programme and special events for children at Leighton House Museum, a unique and opulent Victorian palace of art.

  • Please note that session are NOT drop-in and parents / guardians should remain in the Museum during the course of the workshop. Please arrive on time

Chinese Ceramics

  FUN WITH FANS

Design and take home your own fan inspired by traditional Chinese bird and flower paintings located around the magical home of Lord Leighton. Today Leighton House is best known for its brightly coloured Islamic tiles, but Leighton collected artwork from all over the world including Japan and China.

Since 2005, the Comedy Club 4 Kids has been getting the best stand-ups and sketch acts from the international circuit to do their thing for an audience of children (aged 6+) and their families… but without the rude bits!

Have you ever wondered what’s going on in a picture? Come and find out with Sarah Rundle’s Story Tour, looking at some of the paintings in Leighton House. Who knows? - we might even, between us, be able to come up with some happy endings.

Families can also try exploring the house with our new Scavenger Hunt Trail, the first of a series of fun and interactive trails helping you discover Leighton, his house and garden. Ask for a pack in reception!

RESOURCES FOR 'MEET LORD LEIGHTON' EVENTS

If you have attended a participating 'Meet Lord Leighton' event, you can use your activity sheet to colour in and dress a Lord Leighton figure with variety of detachable outfits and accessories to suit his role of Victorian artist, traveller and socialite.
