Abandoned bicycles, chains or locks
On this page
You can report bicycles or bicycle parts, such as chains or locks, left on a public road in the borough. We can't collect items left on private property or land.
How to report
- Online: Report a problem on a street
- Email: [email protected]
- Telephone: 020 7361 3001
What action we take
A street enforcement team officer will:
- attach a 7-day notice to the item or remove it the same day if there's a health or safety risk
- upload details of the item on our system, such as the description, a photo and the location
- check if the item is still abandoned after 7 days and update our system
- select items with an expired notice on our system for removal every 2 months
- get Suez, our waste and street cleaning contractor, to bring expired notice items to our depot
- send unclaimed items in our depot for recycling or to charity for reuse after 28 days
We can remove rental e-bikes in a dangerous or obstructive position. We take them to a secure location and invoice the operators for their removal and storage. For more details, view Tackling abandoned e-bikes.
