If you have a real Christmas tree, the most environmentally friendly way to dispose of it is to compost it.

Can you compost at home? If your real tree is not in a pot, or you do not have the space to plant it in your garden, then make sure you compost it, which is the most environmentally friendly way to dispose of it.

The best way to recycle your real tree for free, is at one of our drop-off points. This helps keep our pavements and streets clear. You can use the drop off points below, between Thursday 2 January and Sunday 19 January 2025.

North of the borough

Christmas tree kerbside collection

If you cannot take your tree to a drop-off point, we can collect it on your rubbish and recycling collection day, between Thursday 2 January and Friday 17 January 2025.

Before we collect it, make sure you:

know your rubbish and recycling collection days
put it out before 7am on your rubbish and recycling collection day
have removed all decorations and pots
place the tree where it is clearly visible and does not obstruct the pavement
