You can deposit your household waste and recycling from your home, free of charge, at Smugglers Way Household Waste & Recyling Centre.

You can drop off materials if you are travelling on foot or by bicycle as well by car.

If you:

  • are arriving in a car that is under two metres in height (without trailers) you won't need to tell the centre in advance
  • are arriving in a car to tip a fridge/freezer you will not need to seek authorisation, but you will if you are arriving in a van
  • plan to use a motorised vehicle other than a car to take your recycling and rubbish to this site, you must pre-notify Western Riverside Waste Authority of your arrival and provide proof of identity when you arrive

You can also deliver small quantities of industrial waste to this recycling centre in a car, but the frequency of your visits will be monitored. If you visit too frequently with industrial waste will be directed to the Weighbridge Office to pay disposal costs. Read more on the Western Riverside Waste Authority website.

Vans delivering industrial waste

All industrial waste (DIY type waste) delivered to Smugglers Way in a van will be charged for.

There is a height restriction at Smugglers Way. Therefore, only green waste, rubble and electrical appliances can be accepted for recycling from vans or trailers.

What can you recycle at this site?

You can bring batteries and household batteries to this site - the sulphuric acid is drained and the metal sent for recycling.
