Contact Business Rates
Making contact on behalf of a business ratepayer
If you are an agent who has been instructed by a ratepayer or a landlord dealing with the Business Rates account on behalf of your tenant, please ensure that you have the relevant Letter of Authority (LOA) attached to your enquiry or on file already.
When supplying a LOA the below criteria must be met. The LOA must: ·
- be provided from the ratepayer directly
- advise what authorisation the agent/landlord has, i.e. account reviews, applying for relief or credits or making payments
- specify if rating demands should be issued directly to the agent/landlord and provide a correspondence address
- be signed and dated by the ratepayer within the last 12 months
For avoidance of doubt, a letter of authority on landlord/agent headed paper or a clause within a tenancy/licence agreement, will not be accepted.
