Changes to Covid-19 restrictions and keeping safe

A statement from Councillor Elizabeth Campbell:

"The Government’s easing of Covid-19 restrictions came into place on Monday. I know it is welcome news for many of our residents but for some of our most vulnerable members of our community it is a worrying time as cases continue rise.

I want to thank everyone for all you have done since the start of the pandemic to protect each other and our communities. We all know how hard it’s been and the huge challenges and sacrifices that you’ve all had to make.

However we are not out of the woods and we know we must learn to live with this pandemic. So, as cases are going up and we must remain cautious. We need to keep thinking about how we can protect ourselves and others.

Wearing masks is no longer the law but we are still asking you to wear one in our Council buildings if you are not exempt or in other enclosed spaces. TfL have also made the decision that masks are mandatory on the public transport.

Almost 70 per cent of our residents over the age of 50 have received both doses of the vaccination which is good news so thank you but we still need more people in the borough to get vaccinated. So if you haven’t yet received our vaccine, the Science Museum is open seven days a week and you can just walk-in. We also have a vaccine bus travelling around the borough three days a week.

It’s vital we continue to get tested and if you do test positive or are told you were near someone who tested positive, do self-isolate. We are able to help with advice and support with things such as shopping if needed. Simply call the Covid-19 Hub on 020 7361 4326 or email [email protected] Monday to Friday 9am to 6pm and over the weekend from 10am to 4pm.

I want to wish you all a lovely safe summer. Please do get out to support our local businesses who have been so resilient and enjoy Our Summer of Love campaign, which is welcoming people back to our high streets and showcasing local businesses, parks, markets and cultural organisations. Enjoy too the Kensington and Chelsea Festival activities and events which will be running throughout the summer."
