Changes to library system 9 April 2025 onwards

Our Libraries and Archives Service has a new library management system which is now live and ready to use. If you are a library member, this is how it will affect you. 

What will be the same? 

Although the look and feel of the library catalogue will be different, you will still be able to do all of the same things you do currently in the old system. In fact, you can do more!

You can: 

• register for library membership using the self-registration form 
• search for collection items, including ebooks or online resources as well as physical stock, using the library catalogue 
• make purchase suggestions using a form on the library catalogue for items you would like us to buy for the collections 
• place reservation requests using the library catalogue 

Log into your account to:

• view and renew your loans 
• view reservation requests, including status 
• pay for any outstanding charges on your account

What will be different and what do I need to do? 

• Changing your PIN 
  From 9 April 2025, when you first log in you will use the last four numbers of your library card as your PIN. You will be prompted to change this to your own choice of PIN. 

• Updating contact details 
  Please log into your account and update your contact details. It is no longer possible to send out notices by letter.  Please log into your account and change your contact details to either email or text message. Make sure to update/re-enter your mobile number in your account.  

• Libby online collections 
  You need to log in with your PIN as well as your library card number to access Libby online collections. This is a security requirement. 

Exciting new features 

• Ratings and recommendations 
  Your rating of any item of collection stock is then used to recommend to your other items in our collection you may be interested in (only available with a library account). 

• Overdue fines 
  Any overdue fines you accrue will automatically appear on your account every day the item is overdue. This means that overdue fines shouldn’t be a surprise to you when you return the item to the library. 

• Expiring accounts 
  You will be notified one month before your account expires, to ensure you can renew your membership.
