Admission arrangement consultations 2027 to 2028

Why and when consultations take place

Every school and academy have admission arrangements in place. These set out the admissions criteria and the order of priority when there are more applicants than places.

The law requires schools and academies to carry out a consultation a year before changing how they offer places. Consultations help to raise any concerns about the changes. When a consultation takes place, the school or academy must consult:

  • parents of children between the ages of two and eighteen
  • other persons in the area with an interest in the proposed arrangements
  • all other school and academies within the local area
  • the local authority (Kensington and Chelsea)
  • any neighbouring local authorities
  • any relevant faith bodies, for example the local diocese

Open consultations

Consultations shown on this page will be for reception, Year 7 or secondary school admissions from September 2027. The period of consultation is for 6 weeks or more and ends by 31 January 2026.

Pan-London Admissions Scheme (PLAS)

The scheme manages state-funded primary and secondary school applications in Greater London and surrounding counties. When parents or carers apply for a school place, they can list up to six schools in any area on one form in order of preference. Schools can't view these preferences when they review applications against their admission criteria.

The system removes preferences until it reaches the highest potential offer on National Offer Day. This reduces the number of children receiving more than one offer or no offer at all.
