If you use British Sign Language (BSL) you can contact us through a live interpreter using the SignVideo service.

Service availability

The SignVideo service is available:

  • 8am to midnight
  • 7 days a week

Outside of these hours you can pre-book an interpreter. They can usually join within 30 minutes.

Hello. I'm here to explain to you about how our Video Relay Service, or VRS, works. 

So a Deaf person and a hearing person in different locations are able to communicate via telephone.

So, let's show you how it works.

There's no need for a deaf person to register.

They can simply click on this link and they'll be connected to a fully qualified BSL interpreter who will then make that call for you.

Then that interpreter will relay that conversation.

BSL: "Hello, welcome to SignVideo. You need to call Lloyds Bank, correct?" "Yes, thank you."

BSL: "Hello. This is an interpreter call through SignVideo." "Yeah, that's okay. How can I help?" 

BSL: "Hi, I'm just calling for a bit more information, please."

So, that's how it works. And the beauty of it is we don't need to give you any specialist equipment or no additional training or skills are needed.

We just provide you with a hyperlink that you can place onto your website and your organisation will be added to our SignVideo directory. 

Deaf people can download the app for free.

It's really that simple for you to become accessible and inclusive for the Deaf BSL community.
