Developing local services TEST

Our aim

Residents have asked for the services they need to be delivered more directly to the areas of the borough where they live.

We want to improve our housing management services for all  residents by:

  • bringing services closer to our communities
  • making them more accessible and convenient
  • improving overall service quality

We will do this by using the most successful methods introduced by the Lancaster West Neighbourhood team.

World’s End: developing tailored services

The World's End and surrounding area project is a direct response to what residents have asked for in their neighbourhood.

We are working with residents and other interested parties to explore how:

  • new approaches benefit residents
  • more coordinated support across council and other providers could deliver better services

Blantyre Housing Office refurbishment

We will refurbish the Blantyre Housing Office to provide improved and easier to use services for residents.

In December 2024, the office will temporarily move to 1-2 World’s End Place while building works take place.  The temporary office will offer the same level of services to residents.

When finished, the new, welcoming, larger Blantyre Office space will allow cross-council and agency teams to work together. This will provide a better experience for visitors to the office.

Working with residents

In August 20024, we asked residents the services they would like to see provided from the Blantyre estate and office. Residents were asked by:

  • a paper survey delivered to residents
  • an online survey promoted through social media, council e-newsletters, local organisations, posters, and leaflets
  • targeted community engagement on the World’s End estate and surrounding areas
  • organised sessions and meetings with specific groups

The results of the consultation can be viewed on our consultation hub.

We also created a design board, which was displayed in the Blantyre Office reception area, where residents were able to select their favourite design elements for a new reception area. This interactive opportunity allowed the community to have direct impact on the final look and feel of the Blantyre Office to create a warm and welcoming Blantyre Office which meets residents’ needs.
