Health and safety advice for builders
All work on asbestos and other hazardous materials must comply with current legislation and Health and Safety Executive's (HSE) Approved Codes of Practice and Guidance to avoid any exposure or harm to site personnel, visitors, local residents and the public, or the environment.
The regulation of health and safety on construction sites is primarily the responsibility of the Health and Safety Executive’s inspectorate (HSE). However where Council officers become aware of a potentially serious breach of the Health & Safety at Work Act etc. 1974, or Regulations and Statutory Codes of Practice applied by the Act, or when public safety or health may be threatened, they will inform the site manager and make a formal report to the HSE’s local authority liaison officer.
