Keeping cool in the heatwave

As temperatures are set to be high this week, it’s important you act to protect your health in the heat by:

  • Drinking plenty of water
  • Avoiding alcohol
  • Slowing down when it’s hot
  • Paying attention to the forecast
  • Walking in the shade, applying sunscreen and wearing a wide-brimmed hat if you have to go out in the heat

It may be cooler outside in the shade than in a hot building. If you do use outdoor spaces, please be considerate of your neighbours, family and friends to make sure they’re also able to keep cool.

If you feel unwell, cool your skin with water, slow down and drink water. If you need medical help, call NHS 111 or 999 in an emergency.

You can find more information on how to cope in hot weather on the NHS website.
