Black History Month at Libraries and Archives

This event is part of a special programme of events and book displays, delivered by Libraries and Archives, to celebrate Black History Month throughout October 2022. The theme is ‘Time for Change: Action Not Words’. Join us as part of the nationwide celebration of Black History, Arts and Culture in the UK.

We are familiar with EL James’ 50 Shades of Grey and Andy Weir’s The Martian which started out as self-published works. Many others continue to generate a respectable income for their independent writing, but without the traditional reviews and media support.

Diane Hinds will present her popular talk on how to promote your books, which is aimed at independent writers. It acknowledges the popularity of self-publishing and helps writers generate awareness and increased sales for their book.

Diane  is an experienced entertainment PR whose clients have included classical specialist chart topping pianist Emmanuel Vass, the International and New York Times bestselling writer Anne Perry, Nigel Kennedy, EMI Classics, ENO, Osprey, Lisa Potts GM and many more. She has taught Campaigning and Persuasive Skills at the University of Westminster on its BA: Public Relations and Advertising course and she is a frequent Guest Visitor to UCLA's Extension Writer's programme.
