Short breaks
Short breaks for children with disabilities
Short breaks are part of the Bi-Borough Children with Disabilities Family Help Service.
This service brings together:
- the Bi-Borough Short Breaks service
- Disabled Children teams in Westminster
- Disabled Children teams in Kensington and Chelsea
We work with families to give children and young people the right support at the right time.
What a short break is
A short break gives disabled children and young people time away from their carers.
Short breaks can help children and young people:
- try new activities
- make friends
- have fun
- build confidence and independence
Short breaks also give parents and carers a break from caring responsibilities.
Support may be available:
- during the day
- in the evening
- overnight
- at weekends
- for a few hours or a few days
The support we offer depends on your child’s assessed needs.
