Building materials licence

To place building materials on the highway, you need a valid licence. You do not need a licence if the material is left on the highway for less than 20 minutes while being transferred into your work site.

Regardless of the duration, the material must be protected at all times in accordance with the Safety at Street and Road Works Code of Practice.

Temporary structure licences, including renewals, are issued for three months at a time.

Costs

A building material licence costs £683 and can last up to 1 month. The cost of the deposit admin holding fee is £66. This is non-refundable.
