Homelessness strategy
Homelessness and Rough Sleeping Reduction Strategy
We want Kensington and Chelsea to be a borough where our most vulnerable residents get the help they need when they need it, not when it is too late. To help us achieve this goal, the council has developed a five-year Homelessness and Rough Sleeping Reduction Strategy and accompanying action plan.
The strategy was shaped by a public consultation held in 2020. Residents told us that most important to them were:
- greater support for rough sleepers
- more focus on early intervention
- providing more housing within or close to the borough
Key priorities
The key priorities are:
- preventing residents from becoming homeless
- assisting them when they have become homeless
- providing suitable accommodation for homeless households
- reducing and working towards the elimination of rough sleeping
- working with partners to prevent homelessness earlier
