Know your evacuation procedure

Published: Monday 31 March 2025

Our fire, health and safety team work hard every year to produce booklets which contain vital information including, safety advice for the home, and how you should evacuate your building in the event of a fire.

The latest versions of these booklets can be found on our fire safety webpage here.

It is important you know which evacuation procedure applies to your block. We recognise that any emergency can be extremely distressing and we want to make sure that all our residents know how to protect their homes and evacuate safely in an emergency.

All the blocks we manage have either a ‘Stay Put, If Safe’ evacuation procedure or a ‘simultaneous’ evacuation procedure.

Stay put, If safe

In the event of a fire, only residents in the area of the building affected by fire or smoke, or in the area where the alarm was raised, need to evacuate. Residents in other areas do not need to leave the building.

Simultaneous

For blocks with a simultaneous evacuation procedure, the building’s communal alarm system will alert all residents and everyone must evacuate the building.

One of our building safety managers, Mickey Power talks through our booklets in more detail and demonstrates how to safely leave your building in an emergency in the video below.
