The Tenants' Consultative Committee is our most senior tier of the resident engagement opportunities we offer. It’s a monthly meeting attended by representatives from each of the recognised tenants’ or residents’ associations in the borough, Councillors, and Council staff.

It gives resident representatives an opportunity to question and scrutinise Council officers. The residents can also form task and finish or scrutiny groups to take a deep dive into particular areas of housing management.

At the last meeting on Wednesday 19 February 2025, we discussed…

Charter for Public Participation and Citizens’ Panel

The Council is reviewing its Charter for Public Participation and Citizens’ Panel, and Olivia Schelts-Harris (the Council’s Head of Consultation and Participation) explained she is keen to involve residents in this and hopes the review will lead to a better way of involving residents. Committee members expressed concerns that residents had yet to be fully involved in the process and that the panel needs to be better known.

Capital Works Programme

An extensive update was given on the capital works programme with James Heritage, Head of Capital Delivery, noting six major projects are now complete and seven are on site. Attendees raised frustration at projects which have been delayed, with implications to the cost of the works. Serious concerns were raised around the attitudes some contractors exhibit towards residents – James gave assurances he would look into this.

Asset Management Strategy

Fiona Leonard, Assistant Director of Property Services, gave an update on the asset management strategy; our approach to managing in our assets. Fiona noted progress since the previous strategy had been drawn up and invited residents to take part in a review to take it forward.

Resident Engagement Strategy

Colleagues from the Lancaster West Neighbourhood Team led by Nordeen Fahmy presented on a refresh of the resident engagement strategy based on feedback from residents including surveys carried out at the Residents’ Summit aimed at ensuring we are always looking to co-design where possible our services.

Annual Report to Tenants

Nadia Rohegger presented on the annual report to tenants. We produce this each year to give an overview of what has happened in housing management – we are eager to make sure this is in a format that is works for residents and encouraged residents to take part in a survey.

The next meeting is on Wednesday 19 March- topics will include Anti-Social Behaviour, Tenancy Fraud and the Electronic Noticeboards. For more information on the TCC do please get in touch with [email protected]
