The Tenants' Consultative Committee is our most senior tier of the resident engagement opportunities we offer. It’s a monthly meeting attended by representatives from each of the recognised tenants’ or residents’ associations in the borough, Councillors, and Council staff.
It gives resident representatives an opportunity to question and scrutinise Council officers. The residents can also form task and finish or scrutiny groups to take a deep dive into particular areas of housing management.
At the last meeting on Wednesday 19 March 2025, we discussed…
New Fire Safety Manager
The new fire safety manager, Gerald Amissah-Cassell introduced himself, giving the committee a summary of his previous roles and emphasising he was eager to get to know the borough and residents.
Electric Noticeboards
Jack Knowles, our communications manager gave an update on our electronic noticeboards, of which there are around 70, mostly in our larger blocks. Jack explained he was keen to make sure these displayed more timely and locally relevant information, and that resident association leads be able to contribute to what is displayed on then.
Antisocial Behaviour Team
The committee was given an update on the work of the antisocial behaviour (ASB) team by its manager Chris Lyons. Chris explained he was seeking to recruit a new team member with a focus on mental health. Several examples were shared of where action has been taken against perpetrators. Chris highlighted revisions to the ASB policy will be out for consultation, and committee members made some suggestions around improving the way ASB can be reported.
Repairs Scrutiny Review
Several residents have undertaken a scrutiny exercise on repairs and reported back to the committee on their findings. The group had undertaken extensive research into repairs including reviewing the IT systems used to record and track repairs. It was agreed that given the breadth of the report and level of interest in repairs a separate meeting would be held on this.
Next meeting
The next meeting will be online on the 22nd of April, and items to be discussed will include Tenancy Conditions, Mystery Shopping and an overview of policies for consultation. For more information on the TCC please contact [email protected].
