The Tenants' Consultative Committee is our most senior tier of the resident engagement opportunities we offer. It’s a monthly meeting attended by representatives from each of the recognised tenants’ or residents’ associations in the borough, Councillors, and Council staff.
It gives resident representatives an opportunity to question and scrutinise Council officers. The residents can also form task and finish or scrutiny groups to take a deep dive into particular areas of housing management.

Mystery Shopping – Representatives of the residents who had undertaken mystery shopping gave an overview on their inspection of the call centre and the reception at Malton Road. The team awarded overall scores of 3.4/ 5 for the call centre and 4.5/ 5 out of for the reception, and are producing a report with recommendations as to improvements. I you would like to be a mystery shopper, do get in touch!
Policy consultations - There are wide number of polices being consulted upon this year, and James Perryman from our business improvement team discussed these, and how we can make consultation more accessible and easier for residents to access, committee members emphasised the importance of consultations and offered suggestions to increase the reach.
Housing Strategy - The Housing Needs department is undertaking a review of the Borough’s housing strategy explaining the recent changes in legislation, and an ever increasing set of challenges require this to be updated. Committee members emphasised they considered the focus must be on securing more social housing and more large homes for families.
Tenancy conditions review - The Tenancy Conditions Review has been the subject of an independent review by lawyers, overseen by a group of residents. This was reported on, and it was decided to now move on with a wider review of the document.
