Back in January 2023, our dedicated major works team kicked off a significant improvement project at one of our largest estates, the Swinbrook Estate in North Kensington. Partnering with Amber Construction, we set out to transform these homes with brand-new windows, doors, roofs, and a host of other upgrades.
The result? An impressive boost in both safety and energy efficiency for all our residents.
Recently, Councillor Sof McVeigh, our lead member for housing, visited the estate alongside our project manager to see the incredible transformations first-hand.

[00:02] [Music] Hi, I'm here on the Swimbrook estate in North Kensington and it's a really one of our really quite large estates and has lots of different types of homes here and we've spent over12 million pounds on our major works because it's a 1980 estate and it really needed new windows and new doors and a lot of the roofs needed repairing. So, Gazala, tell me a little bit about your involvement in this project. I've been involved for 5 years. It's when we first decided to do major works here.
[00:30] This block behind us, as you can see, is all white windows and yet some of the rest of the estate, um, you've consulted the residents and they've got the dark brown ones. So, I really love that it's so individual. So, this estate covers over 400 properties. How did you work with lease holders and tenants? So we set up the monthly working group and um I ensured that half of the representatives were lease holders and half were tenants and they attended regularly.
