We want to help you get the most out of your home and feel safe and happy while you're living here. Our new, helpful guide covers everything from gas and electrical safety to tips on preventing and treating damp and mould, and how you can access funds to help improve your neighbourhood. We're all about making sure our residents have a safe and secure place to call home.

We’re coming to you

To launch our Safer Homes, Healthy Homes guide, our friendly resident safety team is hitting the road. We’re holding events across the borough where you’ll find our dedicated team members ready to share their expertise, including general repairs operatives, plumbers, gas engineers, electrical engineers, building safety managers, and property surveyors.

So far, the team has visited Warwick Road Estate and St Quintin’s Avenue, chatting with residents and offering hands-on advice.

We’ve spent time listening to residents, and we’ve already referred two families to our Warm and Well programme, which gives extra support for people dealing with damp and mould. We've also fixed two windows, installed window restrictors, and scheduled five follow-up visits from our electricians and plumbers.

We can’t wait to meet you and help make your home even better. We’ll let you know when the team’s in your area.
Lead member for housing, Sof McVeigh, joined the team at St Quintin’s Avenue and said:

Our resident safety team plays an essential role in ensuring that our residents enjoy safe and comfortable homes. The 'Safer Homes, Healthy Homes' guide serves as a valuable resource, covering key topics that are vital for everyone’s well-being. I’m pleased to see residents coming out to meet colleagues, getting hold of this guide and even getting certain issues fixed.
