Carers week looks to recognise the tremendous contribution of the country’s unpaid carers in supporting family and friends and will take place from 7 to 13 June 2021.  This year the theme is ‘Making caring visible and valued’.

Carers are being invited to come to a virtual event on Friday 11 June on Zoom, where the Council has teamed up with the local charity, the Carers Network.  At the event experts will be able to provide advice and help on what to do when caring for someone who is coming to the end of their life and some of the things you can do to help them to continue living at home. Find out what support is available for you and get practical advice on how to manage things such as arranging Power of Attorney.

The event will take place between noon and 1.30pm on Zoom and will be hosted by Cllr Cem Kemahli, Lead Member for Adult Social Care and Public Health. Representatives of the Carers Network will talk about the services they offer, including financial support. There will also be an opportunity for question and answer at the end.

To attend simply go to Zoom.us and click on join a meeting.  Then put in the meeting ID: 883 1311 0007 and the password: 218490

There are other events throughout the week, both online and in person.  These vary from a tour of Chelsea Physic Gardens to a Scams workshop delivered by Citizen’s Advice or Slow Flo Yoga on Zoom.  You can find out what is happening each day on the Carers Network website.
