A mobile testing unit will be at Olympia, in the Motorail Car Park, on Sunday 20, Wednesday 23 and Saturday 26 September from 10.30am to 3.30pm. You must register online to attend. Further testing will take place on Wednesday 23, Saturday 26 and Thursday 29 September.
Once you are registered you will receive confirmation of the time you must attend the testing site, you will only be allowed in with this information. If you have symptoms then you should follow PHE guidance and remain self-isolating and when attending the mobile testing centre you do so by using your own car.
Any individual wanting to be tested must have registered online before attending.
Residents are facing issues accessing tests due to a national shortage of laboratory capacity and delay in processing tests, and the very high demand for tests. The Council continues to lobby central government and the Department for Health and Social Care for further testing sites and units to be made available in our borough to ensure that all who need a test, can access one.
Only get a test if you have coronavirus symptoms or have been asked to get tested. We all need to play our part to protect the NHS Test and Trace service for those who really need it.
If you have any coronavirus symptoms you must isolate immediately for 10 days, don’t wait for a test or a test result before doing so.
If you are identified as a contact of a positive case, you must isolate for the full 14 days, even if for some reason you got a negative test during that period.
The most important thing we can all do to prevent the spread of the virus is to remember the basics:
• Wash your hands more often than usual for 20 seconds, especially as soon as you get home
• If you can, cover your mouth and nose when in places where it’s hard to stay away from other people you do not normally meet
• Keep your distance - try to stay at least 2 metres (3 steps) away from anyone you do not live with (or anyone not in your support bubble)
