For the first time, Portobello and Golborne market antiques dealers will be showcasing their wares in a virtual fair on the @VisitPortobello Instagram page, run through the Council.
On Sunday 27 September from 11am to 1pm, antiques dealers will feature on the account’s story, displaying goods from jewellery, art, and furniture, to rare books, glass, china, collectables and more.
Shoppers can click through on the Instagram stories to browse or buy direct from traders with the links that will be provided. The stories from the day will be saved to a highlights reel on the @VisitPortobello Instagram account so those not visiting live can take a look after the event.
Emma Caderni, specialist in antique textiles, vintage clothes and costume jewellery said:
“So grateful to @VisitPortobello for their continuing support during this time. Their reach to buyers both home and abroad will hopefully introduce us to a new clientele. I’m excited to see what happens on Sunday!”
Open air markets can provide a safer and more Covid-secure shopping alternative to enclosed, indoor stores and Portobello and Golborne market continues to invite locals and visitors from further afield. The virtual antiques fair offers another way to shop, particularly for international buyers or tourists who may not be able to get to the market regularly, offering a unique online experience.
