Kensington and Chelsea residents are being offered the chance to help spread digital skills across their communities by volunteering to become a Community Fibre Digital Ambassador.

The Council has joined forces with Community Fibre to encourage residents to become Digital Ambassadors to teach digital skills to those who may be struggling with new technology.

Volunteer Digital Ambassadors will receive initial training from a trusted provider tailored to their needs and aspirations and have shadow and support sessions to help build confidence before holding their own training sessions.

The Digital Ambassadors programme is fully flexible and volunteers can fit their training and skills sessions around prior commitments. Volunteers don't have to be IT experts and can provide their services whenever is most convenient during the day, evening or at weekends.

There will be eight hours of training, comprised of four two-hour sessions, covering topics including:

  • Teaching someone to use Google
  • Setting someone up on Whatsapp or Zoom
  • Helping someone research their family history or hobby on line

You will get the chance to meet and work with other Digital Ambassadors and have the satisfaction of helping people get connected.

Digital Skills Sessions

Members of the community supported through the programme can also benefit from a wide range of skills sessions for themselves including:

  • How to get the most out of their own devices
  • Online communications
  • Money management
  • Tenancy management
  • Employment support
  • Bespoke sessions tailored to their personal needs
