Portobello and Golborne Market will be opening on Sundays through the summer to provide an extra day for visitors and residents to shop and enjoy from 13 June to 22 August.

The Sunday markets will see stalls featuring food, antiques, vintage clothes, home accessories and more as traders welcome customers all weekend long and kickstart post-lockdown recovery.

Typically, Monday to Wednesday a small number of stalls are set up on part of Portobello and Golborne roads, Thursday the market is open but closes at 1pm, and Friday and Saturday the entire market is fully open. On Sundays the market has historically not been open but now during Summer Sundays, a range of up to 30 stalls will be open and trading along Portobello Rd and Golborne Rd.

Cllr Catherine Faulks, Lead Member for Economy, Employment and Innovation, said:

“As Covid-19 restrictions ease, we are working hard to support high streets across the borough in their recovery and our famous Portobello and Golborne Market is no exception. Saturday is the busiest day at the market so introducing Summer Sundays means visitors and residents have more time and freedom to shop over the whole weekend. We also invite those from across the UK who are ‘staycationing’ this summer to bring the whole family to London’s must-visit market.

“Keep an eye out for more exciting summer plans for things to do in Kensington and Chelsea coming soon.”

For residents, Sunday markets offer a chance to enjoy a world-famous shopping and leisure destination in a more relaxed local ambiance. For Londoners there has never been a better time to experience the neighbourhood’s true character with the range of new independent businesses complementing the classics like Rough Trade, Ceramica Blue and The Cloth Shop and many more.
