In early November, the Council will publish a draft response to the Grenfell Inquiry Phase 2 report and will be asking for feedback from bereaved, survivors and residents.
The draft response will set out what the Council will do to address the failings identified in the report.
The plans will be shaped by what we have heard from you so far during our drop-in sessions and public meetings over the last couple of months.
We are holding a further public meeting for residents to hear more about our response and to challenge us on what’s missing:
Date | Venue | Time |
Thursday 7 November | Maxilla Social Club, 2 Maxilla Walk, W10 6SW | 6pm to 8pm |
If you would like to attend, please visit Eventbrite to register your interest so that we have an idea of numbers.
What is this meeting about?
This meeting is about the Council’s formal response to the Grenfell Tower Inquiry report, which will be published in early November on our Grenfell Inquiry web page.
The meeting will be chaired by the former Bishop of Liverpool James Jones KBE, who was Chair of the Independent Hillsborough Panel and is independent from the Council.
What have we heard from residents so far?
- You haven’t seen or felt the changes that the Council has made since 2017 and what change there has been has been too slow.
- You are still concerned about safety issues in your homes, support for vulnerable residents and the culture and attitudes of people who work for the Council.
- You are tired of giving the same feedback or raising issues and not being heard.
How will it be different from the previous meetings about the Inquiry?
This meeting will be focused on what the Council will do next to respond to the Inquiry, based on what we have heard so far.
Council leaders will present the draft response and the Bishop will invite feedback from residents.
You will have a chance to challenge the Leader and the Chief Executive on the response and raise other issues that might be missing and further actions we might take.
What’s next?
Once a response has been agreed, we will work with residents to make sure you are involved in holding the Council to account for change.
We would welcome your feedback on this.
