Youth Council 2023

The Kensington and Chelsea Youth Council will be completely refreshed with a new cabinet and mayor to be elected this spring.

Young people will vote for their new Youth Mayor in polling stations located around the borough between Tuesday 22 April and Thursday 1 May. The candidate with the most votes will be announced and inaugurated at a ceremony on Friday 2 May.

The Council’s youth participation team is currently visiting schools, colleges and youth clubs around the borough to encourage future leaders to apply to be a candidate in the election.

Could you be the borough’s next Youth Mayor or Cabinet Member?

Are you a young person local to Kensington and Chelsea with a passion for politics and championing the voices of your peers? If you want to make a difference in the borough, why not join the Youth Council?

You must be aged between 11 and 19, or up to 25 with special educational needs or disabilities.

AJ Tumlos, the current Youth Mayor for Kensington and Chelsea said: “My time as Youth Mayor has improved my confidence and my public speaking skills. It is amazing to see the ideas of the Youth Council positively change the borough.”

Cllr Sarah Addenbrooke, lead member for communities, said: “Being part of a Youth Council is one of the best ways for young people to build their confidence, voice their views, and be involved in the community. I look forward to welcoming our new Youth Mayor and Cabinet and working with them on the important issues affecting young residents.”
