Creating better neighbourhoods in Kensington and Chelsea

Published: Friday 18 November 2022

Over the next four weeks, the Council, police, and other services will be engaging with Earl’s Court residents and businesses to gain a better understanding about their concerns on anti-social behaviour and crime in the area.

Issues which have been highlighted are begging, street drinking, public drug taking/dealing, graffiti, licensing issues and environmental issues such as waste on streets.

From Monday 21 November, there will be additional Council and police resources, including more Warden and police patrols in the Earl’s Court ward. Other services such as Substance Misuse Services, Trading Standards, Licensing, Housing Outreach Services and more will be out and about.
Other activities include:

  • Delivering street briefings and engaging directly with residents
  • Wardens will be carrying out one-minute questionnaires across the ward to better understand the issues and what the Council and police should do
  • Engaging with businesses to understand the issues they face
  • Removal of graffiti which has already started

Lead Member for Culture and Community Safety, Emma Will said; “We want to become the best Council for a borough that is greener, safer, fairer.

“To meet this ambition in Earls Court, we need a focus of what residents tell us is most important to them, we need to drive down crime with our partners in the police, tackle antisocial behaviour in all its forms, and address the fear of crime that exists in many areas.

“Over the next four weeks, we are deploying more wardens and putting on more patrols to build an understanding of the issues on the ground, and see where we can tackle them, so we can create a safer neighbourhood for people who live and work there.”
