We are inviting residents to join a new oversight group to hold us to account on delivering the new Public Participation Commitments.
The Public Participation Commitments were co-designed with residents last year and replace the Charter for Public Participation.
They highlight the different ways in which the Council and residents can work together to develop services, how residents can get involved in decision-making and make a difference in their area.
The new commitments are part of our ongoing commitment to become a more transparent and listening council, following the Grenfell Inquiry.
The new Public Participation Oversight Group will:
- Hold us to account for honouring the Commitments
- Agree a framework for measuring how well we are delivering these
- Work with officers to produce an annual report evaluating progress and learnings
- Ensure a broad range of local people are involved with this work.
We are encouraging applications from people with experience of Council services, particularly in housing, customer services, adult social care and planning. We are also keen to hear from anyone who doesn’t already have other leadership roles in the community, to balance representation we already have from different representative resident groups.
Those interested will be expected to attend four meetings a year. To keep the group fresh and allow others to participate, members will serve two-year terms. We will provide support and training, and your time and expertise will be recognised and compensated at London Living Wage.
If you’re interested, please complete the short expression of interest to tell us:
- A bit about yourself and why you are interested
- Any experience or knowledge you might have
- What areas of the Council’s commitments you’re most interested in
- Your experience of Council services
Fill out your expression of interest form: Public Participation Commitment Oversight Group - Expression of Interest – Fill in form
The closing date to submit your expression of interest is Monday 23 March 2026.
