Kensington and Chelsea stands with Ukraine on anniversary of war

Published: Monday 24 February 2025

Kensington and Chelsea continues to stand with the people of Ukraine as the country marks three years since the start of the war.

Kensington and Chelsea Council provides support to hosts and guests through the Homes for Ukraine scheme, through which eligible residents can support those displaced by the war by offering accommodation in a spare room or second property.

More than 900 Ukrainians have been matched with a sponsor from the borough since the conflict began in February 2022.

Cllr Elizabeth Campbell, Leader of Kensington and Chelsea Council, said:

“Three years on from the start of the conflict,

our thoughts remain with the people of Ukraine, including those who have made Kensington and Chelsea their home.

“I am grateful to our residents who have so generously opened their homes to those fleeing the war, as well as to our borough's Ukrainian community and voluntary groups who continue to provide support.

“Sadly, with the war continuing and more people forced to leave Ukraine, there is still a need for safe places to stay in this country. Please take a look at the Homes for Ukraine scheme and consider helping out if you're in a position to do so.”

We will be celebrating the hosts and guests from the Homes for Ukraine scheme at the Together in RBKC event, which takes place in the Great Hall, Kensington Town Hall, on Monday 3 March. If you’d like to attend, please register online.
