A former boutique located on Kensington Church Street has been ordered to pay over £100,000 for engaging in the sale of fake goods.
Following a raid in 2023, Kensington and Chelsea Council Trading Standards officers found and seized counterfeit clothing and accessories of high-end designer brands including Louis Vuitton, Chanel and Dior from the shop floor.
The boutique was sentenced by Southwark Crown Court on Wednesday 2 September 2026. As part of the sentence, Gorgeous Boutique was ordered to pay a total of £110,000 which included :
- Fines: £15,000
- Council's legal costs : £26,000
- Victim surcharge: £2,000
A confiscation order of £67,000 was made under the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002.
What happens to the seized goods?
All seized goods will be destroyed. The retail value of goods seized if genuine was estimated to be £124,500.
Cllr Johnny Thalassites, lead member for resident services, planning, and enforcement, said:
“Counterfeit activity can have a serious impact on our communities, undermine local businesses, and damage consumer trust.
“This sentencing is a positive result, and credit goes to our trading standards officers who continue to work tirelessly to protect residents, support genuine businesses and tackle the sale of counterfeit goods.”
Council officers carried out the investigation with trademark representatives from the brands affected following allegations of counterfeit goods being sold at the former Kensington store.
