New Platinum Jubilee Collection to exhibit local artists’ work at Kensington Town Hall

Published: Tuesday 12 April 2022

For the Royal Borough’s celebrations to mark Her Majesty the Queen’s 70 years on the throne, a new Platinum Jubilee Collection will showcase artworks by local artists in the Civic Gallery in Kensington Town Hall.

The collection will feature art produced by both amateur and professional artists of all ages who live, work or study in the borough. An independent selection panel, chaired by the Mayor, will review and select the final collection to go on display.

Anyone who works, lives, or studies within the borough can submit an existing visual artwork such as paintings, drawings, photographs and collages that are ready to exhibit and reflect events or moments of personal, historical or local significance within the Queen’s 70-year reign. A loan fee will be paid to successful applicants

If you are interested in submitting artwork for consideration, please contact the Culture Service at [email protected] for an application form, the technical specification for artworks, and terms and conditions for the Collection. The deadline for applications is 9am on Monday 16 May 2022.

The Civic Gallery project was introduced in 2018 as an opportunity for local artists, who may not ordinarily interest commercial galleries, to exhibit their work. In doing so, the project also aims to showcase Kensington Town Hall as a space reflecting the community.
