With the installation of triple glazed windows, and a new environmentally friendly roof, the major works at Bramley House in Notting Dale are almost finished.
Bramley House will be the first of our Council-managed homes to be completely re-fitted with triple glazed windows. This type of window helps keep the heat in, and reduces sound from outside.
We’ve also installed a new, insulated roof to help residents keep the heat in. The top of the roof has green roof areas which have plants to help reduce the carbon in the air. It also has brown roof sections which are areas where local plants and wildlife can thrive. This will all be topped off by solar panels to help contribute to the communal electricity charges.
As part of their social value commitment, Amber Construction are renovating the basement to create a new community space. Social value is where we ask our suppliers as part of their contract to provide improvements or opportunities for the communities they are working in.
Our lead member for housing, Cllr Sof McVeigh, joined Samia, the chair of the block’s residents’ association, and the team from Amber to take a look at the work.
