Statement from Council Leader as Storm Eunice arrives in London

Published: Friday 18 February 2022

Cllr Elizabeth Campbell, Leader of Kensington and Chelsea Council, said:

“We are seeing some of the strongest winds ever recorded in the UK, and London is right in the eye of this storm. Staff from the Council are ready to respond quickly to incidents as they happen, and we thank all of our residents and businesses for their engagement and patience.

“So far, a number of trees have fallen in the borough, and we have had to close some services for safety. Thanks to our staff though, vital services are running – including for those that are vulnerable, our libraries, leisure centres and customer service centres. We also have patrols operating via our warden’s service and parks police.

“But please do heed the warnings and only travel or leave your homes if absolutely necessary, and if you see any issues, report them to us via our website or telephone.”
