Things to do this London Climate Action Week 2023

Across the borough, people of all ages can take part in free events that connect us to nature and explore how to care for our environment this London Climate Action Week, Saturday 24 June to Sunday 2 July.

The Council has set a target to be carbon neutral by 2030 and an ambition for a carbon neutral borough by 2040. From more green spaces to greener travel and energy efficient homes and schools, the Council is investing to make the borough greener. We cannot do this alone - together, let’s go zero!

Below is a list of events happening across the borough run by the Council, community groups and faith groups:

Sunday 25 June - Faith in climate action
Join the climate action Sunday service at Latymer Church in North Kensington. 

Time & location: 11am -12.30pm, Latymer Community Church, 116 Bramley Rd, London, W10 6SU.

Monday 26 June - Mind Nature Shed
If you are 18+ and struggling with mental health issues register for this workshop at Mind Meanwhile Gardens to learn about soil science, planting theory and the world of fungi. Please note this workshop has limited availability, so please register to confirm a space.

Tuesday 27 June - Webinar: A resilient next generation
This webinar with Dr Louise Edgington is aimed at anyone supporting or caring for children. It will cover a range of topics such as where to get the facts, how to talk to children about climate change and managing emotions that arise from the issue.

Tuesday 27 June - Creating for climate action
Get creative with arts and crafts activities, and eco-storytelling dedicated to climate action at Kensal Library. 

Time & location: 3.30pm - 4.30pm, Kensal Library, 20 Golborne Road, London W10 5PF.

Wednesday 28 June - Climate change stalls
Come say hello and meet the Council’s climate change team to find out more what the Council is doing to tackle climate change. Get tips about how to reduce your carbon footprint with games, activities and more.

Thursday 29 June - 2040 film screening 
Join us for a film screening of ‘2040’ followed by an interactive discussion with Kensington and Chelsea’s Climate Change Team. This informative yet optimistic story follows the protagonist who looks for possible solutions to the climate crisis with his daughter’s future in mind.

Friday 30 June - Portobello Market: sustainability stalls
Stop by the sustainability stalls at Portobello Market, where you can learn about upcycling with TRAID, get free bike repairs from Dr Bike, free home energy advice, information on flood resilience, carbon calculation, air quality and more.

Friday 30 June - Family fun in nature
Come along to the family nature event in Avondale Park. Make a mini garden out of recycled materials to take home, take part in wildlife fun and games and join the Tree Detectives Walk where you identify the park's trees by following the clues with our partners Urbanwise.

Saturday 1 July - Festival of Activity & Wellbeing: community climate stall 
Get involved in community climate change activities, including a treasure hunt at the Holland Park festival of Activity and Wellbeing. Our climate change team will be running a stall where you can learn more about local impacts of climate change and get involved in carbon reduction projects.

Saturday 1 July -  WALL-E film screening

Join us for a screening of WALL-E followed by an interactive discussion. This family-friendly film showcases the impact of consumption and waste patterns on the planet. Please register as spaces are limited.

Sunday 2 July - Faith in climate action
St Mary Abbots Church will be reflecting on creation at their services a, culminating in a special family Eucharist on Sunday.
