Winter in the Borough

Published: Thursday 1 December 2022

As we approach the festive time of the year, the Council is showcasing some pocket-friendly events from across the borough including Sunday Christmas markets.

Whether you’re meeting friends for that annual festive get-together or simply looking to explore all the seasonal fun that the local area has to offer, our ‘Winter in the Borough’ event page will have you covered.

  • Sunday Christmas markets back on Portobello Road
  • Free Festive photo competition with a wellness hamper up for grabs
  • Fun cinema screenings along with Christmas carol concerts

Christmas at Portobello is back for special Sunday markets 4, 11 and 18 December. Whether you are looking to shop, eat or simply enjoy the atmosphere, why not take a stroll along our festive winter market to celebrate this holiday season.

A new sustainability market takes place on Friday 9 December on Tavistock Square. Make sure your Christmas doesn’t cost the earth with free bike repair stations and lots of tips on how to re-use, repair and recycle this festive season.

Come and see the next generation of talented market traders at the New Youthquake market, giving young people, aged 18 to 30, the chance to trade on the world-famous Portobello Market. Stop by on Sunday 11 December from 9am to 5pm to show your support and pick up a delicious treat or two.

The Council has also launched its festive photo competition to kick off winter in the borough. One lucky winner will have the opportunity to win a fabulous wellness hamper of goodies from local business healf, who are experts in health and wellbeing. Simply tag us @kensingtonandchelseacouncil on Instagram in a pic of your favourite festive window spot in the borough, with the hashtag #OurRBKC good luck!

Families can enjoy watching fun Christmas movies for free at North Kensington Library on Saturday 10 December at 10am and 2pm. Also, join us for Earl’s Court Christmas carols in the beautiful garden of Redcliff Square on Sunday 4 December at 6pm – 7pm along with many more events.
