Cleaner streets

Dog fouling

If you own a dog it's your responsibility to clean up after it. It only takes a few seconds to pick up your dog's poo with bag and throw it away in the nearest bin.

Under the Clean Neighbourhoods and Environment Act 2005, it is an offence if a dog owner fails to clean up after their dog. You could face a fine up to £1,000.

Chewing gum

Dropping gum on the streets is messy and unhygienic. It can get stuck on the soles of shoes and on animals' fur.

Please wrap used chewing gum in a piece of paper and put it in the bin.

If an enforcement officer sees you littering the pavements or highway with gum you could be fined £80.
